Project Objectives

The HOPE project aims to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in peacebuilding, constructive conflict resolution, and reconciliation. Through the development of a Peace Education curriculum, the project will support coexistence and dialogue among Arab and Jewish communities in Israel while strengthening the capacity of participating institutions to develop and implement Peace Education programmes. HOPE will equip students, faculty, and staff with constructive conflict resolution skills and create opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation across institutions. Through the Peace Education Hub and other shared activities, the project will support intercultural dialogue, research, and continued collaboration in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What HOPE Aims to Achieve

Strengthen Institutional Capacity

Increase the capacity of participating institutions to develop and deliver peace education and constructive conflict-resolution programmes.

Develop Student and Staff Competences

Provide students, educators, researchers, and professional staff with opportunities to strengthen critical thinking, intercultural communication, dialogue, collaborative problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

Create Shared Learning Opportunities

Bring students and educators from different institutions and communities together through courses, blended intensive programmes, virtual exchange, COIL activities, training, and structured dialogue.

Connect Education, Research, and Practice

Create opportunities for joint curriculum development, staff training, student learning, collaborative research, and the exchange of knowledge and educational practice across partner institutions.

Support Intercultural Dialogue and Cooperation

Encourage meaningful interaction among different communities and connect higher education with policymakers, civil society, and community representatives through educational activities, events, research, and public discussion.

Establish Lasting Structures

Develop shared programmes, digital resources, research networks, institutional partnerships, and the Peace Education Hub to support continued cooperation beyond the funded project period.
